Ojciec Jan Finc (1910-1940)
Urodził się 6 września 1910 r. w Siemoniu koło Torunia. Był zakonnikiem oblatem, ukończył studia filozoficzno-teologiczne. 12 września 1931 r. złożył śluby wieczyste w Kodniu. Uczył literatury polskiej w seminarium w Lublińcu. Tuż przed wojną został superiorem klasztoru na św. Krzyżu. Został oskarżony o kontakty z partyzantami. 3 kwietnia 1940 r. w czasie akcji w klasztorze gestapo podobno znalazło przy nim resztki podartej pocztówki, przedstawiającej karykaturę Hitlera. Wraz z innymi zakonnikami został aresztowany i przewieziony do więzienia w Kielcach. Tu był trzymany w ciasnym karcerze w podziemiach, potem przeniesiony na oddział polityczny. Został skazany na karę śmierci i 12 czerwca 1940 r. rozstrzelany na kieleckim Stadionie.

The Reverend Father Jan Finc was born on September 6, 1910, in Siemoń near Toruń. He was an Oblate monk and completed his philosophical and theological studies. On September 12, 1931, he took his perpetual vows in Kodeń. He taught Polish literature at the seminary in Lubliniec. Shortly before the war, he became the superior of the monastery at Holy Cross (Święty Krzyż). He was accused of maintaining contact with partisans. On April 3, 1940, during a raid on the monastery, the Gestapo reportedly found the remains of a torn postcard on his person, which depicted a caricature of Hitler. Along with other monks, he was arrested and transported to the prison in Kielce. Here, he was kept in a cramped solitary confinement cell (punishment cell) in the basement, and later transferred to the political ward. He was sentenced to death and executed by firing squad on June 12, 1940, at the Kielce Stadium. Jan Finc is commemorated on the Memorial Wall of the OMPiO (Patriotic and Civic Education Centre).
