Stefan Gądzio ps. „Kos” (1900-1945)
Urodził się 25 października 1900 roku w Gałkowie w województwie łódzkim. Był uczestnikiem wojny polsko-bolszewickiej, kapitanem służby stałej w Centrum Wyszkolenia Piechoty, uczestnikiem kampanii wrześniowej. Od lutego 1941 do grudnia 1943 r. był komendantem obwodu jędrzejowskiego ZWZ-AK ps. „Kos”. Tworzył oddziały dywersyjne, w lutym 1944 dowodził akcją odbicia pięciu żołnierzy AK z gestapo w Jędrzejowie. Po awansie na stopień majora został szefem Biura Informacji i Propagandy Komendy Okręgu Radomsko-Kieleckiego AK. Kontynuował działalność niepodległościową w organizacji NIE – DSZ, m.in. polecił A. Hedzie – „Szaremu” przygotowanie akcji odbicia więźniów z więzienia kieleckiego. W sierpniu 1945 został aresztowany przez UB i po krótkim brutalnym śledztwie w kieleckim więzieniu zamordowany. Do dziś nie jest znane miejsce jego pochówku.
Stefan Gądzio upamiętniony jest na Murze Pamięci OMPiO.

Stefan Gądzio, pseudonym “Kos”, was born on October 25, 1900, in Gałków in the Łódź Voivodeship. He was a veteran of the Polish-Soviet War, a captain of the permanent service at the Infantry Training Center, and a participant in the September Campaign. From February 1941 to December 1943, he served as the commander of the Jędrzejów Union for Armed Struggle-Home Army (ZWZ-AK) district under the pseudonym “Kos”. He formed diversionary units and, in February 1944, commanded the operation to rescue five Home Army (AK) soldiers from the Gestapo in Jędrzejów. Following his promotion to the rank of major, he became the head of the Bureau of Information and Propaganda of the Home Army Radom-Kielce District Headquarters. He continued his independence activities within the NIE – DSZ (Delegation of the Armed Forces for Poland) organization, instructing, among other tasks, A. Heda “Szary” to prepare the raid to liberate prisoners from the Kielce prison. In August 1945, he was arrested by the security office and, after a brief and brutal investigation, was murdered in the Kielce prison. His burial place remains unknown to this day. Stefan Gądzio is commemorated on the Memorial Wall of the OMPiO (Patriotic and Civic Education Centre).
