Marian Gustek (1895-1941)
Urodził się 11 marca 1895 r. w Klebanówce. Był lekarzem wojskowym. , majorem, internistą i wenerologiem, ordynatorem oddziału dermatologicznego szpitala Miejskiego w Kielcach. Leczył bezpłatnie inwalidów wojennych i rodziny wojskowych, także innych biednych, nie pobierając honorarium. W grudniu 1939 r. został dyrektorem Szpitala Miejskiego. Zwalniał jeńców oficerów z przymusowego zesłania do oflagów, wystawiając fikcyjne zaświadczenia o zachorowaniu na tyfus lub gruźlicę, chronił młodzież przed wywiezieniem do Niemiec, pomagał Żydom zdobycie „ aryjskich papierów ”. Został aresztowany w szpitalu w czerwcu 1941 roku. W kieleckim więzieniu przy ulicy Zamkowej przebywał przez miesiąc, skąd 30 lipca 1941 roku został wywieziony do Oświęcimia. Tam jako szczególnie niebezpieczny został skierowany do kompanii karnej. Miał numer obozowy 19053. Wkrótce rodzina otrzymała depeszę o jego śmierci. Zginął w nieznanych okolicznościach.

Marian Gustek was born on March 13, 1895, in Klebanówka. He was a military doctor, a major, an internist, and a venerologist, as well as the head of the dermatology department at the Municipal Hospital in Kielce. He treated war invalids, military families, and other impoverished individuals free of charge, refusing to take any fees. In December 1939, he became the director of the Municipal Hospital. He saved captured officers from forced deportation to Oflags by issuing fictitious medical certificates stating they suffered from typhus or tuberculosis, protected young people from being deported to Germany, and helped Jews obtain „Aryan papers.” He was arrested at the hospital in June 1941. He was held in the Kielce prison on Zamkowa Street for a month, from where, on July 30, 1941, he was deported to Auschwitz. There, classified as particularly dangerous, he was assigned to a penal company. His camp prisoner number was 19053. Shortly afterward, his family received a telegram notifying them of his death. He perished under unknown circumstances. Marian Gustek is commemorated on the Memorial Wall of the OMPiO (Patriotic and Civic Education Centre).
